One of the premier match ups of the 2019 NFL season is almost upon us. The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs are among the best teams in their respective conferences, and the two franchises meet in the regular season for just the twelfth time in their history.
Even before the season, many NFL fans had this game circled on the calendar. Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes was going to make for a fantastic quarterback matchup — or at least it should have until Mahomes dislocated his kneecap on Thursday Night Football in week seven. Now Mahomes’ status is in doubt, though the fact that he has a chance to play at all on Sunday is remarkable given the early fears and expectations around the injury.
Even if Mahomes has to sit, this projects to be a good game, with Kansas City’s myriad offensive weapons stretching the Packers’ improved defense in a way that they have not yet seen in 2019. KC’s defense has been fairly good against the pass this year as well, which could force Packers head coach Matt LaFleur to rely more heavily on the running game.
Thus, this week’s game gets a national spotlight on Sunday Night Football. Here’s when and how to tune in.
